Princess Ashara Martell was the first wife of King Viserys III Targaryen and is the mother of Jaehaera Targaryen. A member of House Martell, the union between Ashara and Viserys was made after Viserys refused to wed his sister, Daenerys Targaryen as his father Aemon Targaryen willed. This decision would have a resounding impact among the family, as many felt Viserys was dishonoring the traditions of their ancestors.
Viserys would instead wed Ashara Martell and Daenerys was given to his younger brother Aegor Targaryen instead. In the year 343 AC Ashara died giving birth to Jaehaera Targaryen.
