Baelor Targaryen was born in the year 333AC, the third son of Aemon Targaryen and Saera Celtigar. He was granted the title Prince of Summerhall in 346AC, as well as the rights to rebuild and occupy the castle itself, over his uncle Baelon. Baelor is the founder of the cadet branch of House Targaryen - House Targaryen of Summerhall.
History[]
After being challenged by his grandfather, Aegon VI Targaryen and later father, Aemon Targaryen, Baelor Targaryen made the choice to reconstruct the Lordship of Summerhall. Being chosen for the deed was seen as controversial, as his uncle Baelon Targaryen had been petitioning for years to do it himself, desiring a castle of his own.
Reconstruction was completed in 349 AC, and Baelor was named Prince of Summerhall. He ruled well alongside his wife, Princess Barbara Connington, with whom he had five children: Rhaegar, Matarys, Daenys, Alysanne, and Aeryn.
Baelor was seen as a quiet but wise and poetic Dragon, making his reaction upon discovering that his relative, Maegor Targaryen, had raped his wife all the more surprising. Despite the protests of his wife, Baelor rode to Harrenhal, where he challenged Maegor to a duel. Baelor was killed, leaving Summerhall to his eldest son, Rhaegar. Barbara ended her life soon afterwards, blaming herself for being unable to keep her shame to herself.
