Blackmyre is a small settlement in the Neck, inhabited by crannogmen loyal to House Reed, and in turn House Stark. It is the seat of House Blackmyre, who lead the inhabitants.

The current Lord is Tergon Blackmyre, given the traditional title of Phantom of the Myre.

Location[]

Blackmyre is a small settlement with the Neck, the southernmost part of the North. It is situated close to the western headwaters of the Green Fork, which flows south past the Twins to form a third of the Trident.

Due to the difficult nature of the swamp and the lack of established roads in the Neck, bar the Kingsroad Causeway to the East, it is very difficult to locate, regardless of whether the seeker is friend or foe.

It is not unknown for the inhabitants to relocate entirely when threatened, reconstructing Blackmyre elsewhere.

Layout[]

Due to the nature of its simple construction, the arrangement and organisation is continuously changing. Generally speaking, if a visitor was to find it, they may expect to see around ten housing huts, typically built on distinct crannogs, as well as a structure akin to that of a crude tavern, which doubles as the Great Feasting Hall of House Blackmyre. Mediocre to all but the smallest Houses, the Hall would probably fit tenfold within the Hall of a larger noble House.

Dotted throughout the settlement small huts are constructed for the preservation and storage of fish and other aquatic catches, more often than not by smoking and/or salting.

Stretches of wood connect many of the crannogs, forming a crude network of bridges and pathways.

House Blackmyre[]

House Blackmyre has ruled the changing location of Blackmyre since stories of its origin began. Due to the lack of maesters in the Neck, oral history takes predominance and as such recounts of history quickly become diminished into myths and legends, facts forgotten or exaggerated depending on the storyteller. As such, with the exception of the generations remembered in living memory, not much is known for certain about the ruling House and its people.

The current Lord is Tergon Blackmyre, who became Lord after the death of Adrak Blackmyre, his father, in 376AC.
