House Manderly of White Harbor is a noble family in the North whose seat is the New Castle in the city of White Harbor. They are among the most powerful and loyal vassals of House Stark as well as the richest northern family due to their control of the only city in the region. Unlike most other northern houses, the Manderlys follow the Faith of the Seven instead of the old gods, as the family emigrated from the Reach after the Andal invasion.

The Manderlys' blazon is a white merman with dark green hair, beard and tail, carrying a black trident, over a blue-green field. Manderly guards wield tridents instead of spears.[4]

The Lord of White Harbor, Weiland Manderly, influences all lands and houses east of the mouth of the White Knife, including Houses Locke, Woolfield, and Flint of Widow's Watch. The Manderlys' dominion includes the Sheepshead Hills and the Broken Branch, as well as the allegiance of Ramsgate. Their bannermen includes a dozen petty lords and a hundred landed knights.

History[]

The Winter War[]

The Manderlys were nominally the allies of House Frey at the beginning of the Winter War, marching on Stannis Baratheon and his host along side them in the prelude to the Battle of Ice. In the end House Manderly would betray the Freys, turning on those that survived an ill-fated charge across a frozen lake.

The Manderlys assist in the re-taking of Winterfell, though Wyman Manderly and Stannis quarrel over the supposed death of Lord Davos Seaworth. Stannis would eventually imprison Wyman, earning even greater dislike from the northern lords in his service. After Stannis' assisnation, Wyman would be released. His attempts to gather the remaining forces of the North go poorly at first, though the reappearance of Davos Seaworth and Rickon Stark bring forth a surge of revived Stark loyalties. Wyman Manderly is named Rickon's Lord Regent.

The War for the Dawn[]

House Manderly, approached by Jon Snow himself, would send men to fight in the War for the Dawn.
