House Manwoody of Kingsgrave is an old Dornish noble house. Its seat, Kingsgrave, is placed amidst the Prince's Pass, guarding access to Dorne.
They blazon their banners with a white skull with a golden crown, over a black field.
History[]
The arms of the house and the name of its castle refer to the fact that the founder of the house slew there a King of the Reach.
King Albin Manwoody claimed dominion over the Red Mountains of Dorne when the Rhoynar arrived in Dorne. Rhoynish warrior queen Nymeria and her husband, Prince Mors Martell, defeated King Albin. He was subsequently sent to the Wall in golden fetters, together with five other defeated Kings of Dorne.
Ser Michael Manwoody came to court with Princess Mariah Martell, following her marriage to Prince Daeron Targaryen. He became a trusted servant to King Daeron II, and eventually married Princess Elaena Targaryen.
