Hyle Lannister was the first born child of Tyrek Lannister, and his wife, Joanna Crakehall. He had two siblings: Ellyn and Jason Lannister, and was the heir to Casterly Rock until he eventually rose to the position of Lord Paramount in 353 AC. He died later at the hands of assassins hired by Tytos Kenning.

Appearance[]

Unlike his brother and sister, Hyle was not a beauty. He might have been described as a handsome man once, but as he aged, his prominent nose made his features less than pleasurable. Beyond that, he had dark, green eyes, and never seemed to smile, save when in the presence of family.

History[]

Hyle was born in 338 AC, the first of three children born of Tyrek and Joanna Lannister. His father, Tyrek, saw the height of his rule during his youth, and was raised to be a good swordsman. He was brutal, yet forgiving, as well, and thrice challenged the son of Tytos Kenning, and emerged three times as the victor.

Hyle also attended his father pursing bandits hired by Lord Tytos during the year 353 AC. They managed to kill his father in an ambush, however, Hyle escaped unscathed, and was shortly thereafter named Lord of the Rock. He was formally betrothed to Sarelle Westerling, and went on to rule for nine more months, attempting to seal the breach that had erupted between the two factions of the Westerlands. His ministrations were largely countered, however.

Hyle died during his wedding to Sarelle Westerling, ambushed by assassins in the night. He was avenged when Tytos Kenning discovered them and put them to death.

Quotes[]

"Thrice he challenged the son of Lord Tytos Kenning to a duel, and thrice did he emerge the victor. Beyond that, he was forgiving; a trait no doubt inherited from his father. He was, however, brutal to any traitors that opposed hin. Despite this, he worked to mend the struggles between the Whites and Reds during his rule, and almost found success. If only he hadn’t been assassinated. Perhaps he would have succeeded." - Maester Creysen, writings of Ellyn Lannister, 379 AC
