Queen Saera Celtigar was a member of House Celtigar and was the spouse of King Aemon Targaryen and Queen of Westeros until her death in 348 AC. Betrothed to Aemon from a young age, Saera would be seen as a dutiful queen and a kind a beautiful women. Saera is the mother of Viserys III Targaryen, Aegor Targaryen, Baelor Targaryen, Daeron Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen.
History[]
Saera was betrothed to Aemon Targaryen in 317 AC after both of Aemon's sisters had been wed and betrothed to others, Aemon's eldest brother Rhaegar Targaryen and Abelar Redwyne. The match was made to preserve the Valyrian Bloodline as well to gain favour in the Crownlands which King Aegon VI Targaryen held under rule. The match was also made due to the apparent fondness of Aemon towards Saera, a fondness which would continue into their marriage.
Saera was named Queen following Aemon's ascend to the Iron Throne in 335 AC and was well received by the realm for her king-hearted nature. Saera died in the year 348 AC after a bout with illness, leaving the realm without a Queen. King Aemon was said to have become a changed, wrothful and jealous man after Saera's death and built sculpture in King's Landing for the realm to remember her by. It is said that Saera's death was what led King Aemon to foolishly challenge his brother Baelon Targaryen and blunder with his associates in Essos, leading to the War of the Seven Banners.
